Nerdy Native Chick looking for friends! Hey Wishta! My name is Carrie, otherwise known as Sleeping Bear. Although I haven't had my official naming ceremony, I have been called this my entire life. My family and tribal community bestowed it upon me at birth, and I guess it just stuck! I am Nanticoke and Mohawk (father), with a splash of German, Scottish, and Scandinavian (mother) thrown in. I am a card-carrying member of the EDN (Eastern Delaware Nations), and am looking forward to my vision quest this coming year.The first thing that you'll notice about me is that I am covered in tattoos and piercings, or my hair, which is 40 inches long (and still growing). I love art and music, animals, nature/gardening, laughing, and just doing anything fun. I speak German, French, and am fluent in ASL (American Sign Language). I'm pretty quirky, and love really eccentric things (oddities). I'm a musician (currently play 14 different instruments. Yes, 14), artist, writer, and anything in between. I love to create, regardless of what the medium is. I have lots of animals (most of them are disabled rescues), so other animal-friendly people are a huge plus!I was raised to know where I came from, and my father (Two Hawks) was very proud of his (full-blood) native heritage. After he passed away in 2007, I made it a point to explore deeper into my tribal background, learn Lenape language (although that's not coming along too good LOL), meet and mingle with other natives, and really get back to the roots my father was so strongly grounded in.I'm looking to meet other like-minded individuals, and hopefully develop long lasting friendships.
