I Am American. When groups are talking sometime ethnic background come up and everyone asks, what is your background and we tell. There is always some bozo who wants to start something and will say in a confrontational way, "Im American" I then say to him excitedly, "Really, Are You Serious, What Tribe?", He'll look at me. "What do you mean", me" We were talking ancestors, ethnic backgrounds and you said American, I asked what Tribe" He's a little stunned and all is quiet. I continue" Personally, Im Blackfoot." he says "oh, well I am not Indian, but I am an american." I said, " yes you are, but when we are talking ancestors, you can not claim American as you ethnic background. Out of all this group. Only I can do that. My grandmother, was blackfoot married and Irishman." Well he skulked away and we all continued to talk, but he wasn't mad, I can tell he was really thinking about what I had said. He was probably thinking back generations to see what his background was. I am proud of who i am. Good happening and faults, all my ancestors are mine and that who is who I am. I am proud of it too.
