Frenchwoman interested in native american culture Hi,
My name is Sara.I discovered this site while searching for information about Native American tribes. I am fascinated by these people since very young. My passion for horses led me to discover the Native Americans. Then I started reading some books and I was touched by the wisdom of these people, their respect for life, for their land, for their ancestors and future generations. I want to know more about Native Americans, especially their current situation because most of the the books I've read deal with the past. I would love to have your advice on sites, books and documentaries that talk about Native Americans and discuss with you. I hope not to have been clumsy my English is not very good and I am using a dictionary and a site that translates to find my words. If there are lovers of horses, animals and nature, I will be glad to get acquainted and to share what I know about pets, horses and about my country if some of you have questions.
I have two horses : a mare who shares my life since 1998 and her son born in 2006, that I have ridden there shortly.
I want to learn more about the relationship between Native Americans and their horses and the races they raised and how they look after them.
I am a primary school teacher and my students asked me after a history lesson how Indians live today and I found myself stupid because I could not answer except that some live in reservation. Therefore I would like to explain what it really is :How have your traditions and your culture they been preserved, does the government recognize it genocide, what is your perspective on your history (because our history books, although they make progress, always tell the same point of view,it's not very fair).I hope not to hurt you with my questions or disrespectful, I understand that your story is painful.
