hello to all, i'm part chickasaw and cherokee and born to a crazy white woman that wouldn't let my fathers side of the family to teach me my native ways and when i was 12 they divorced and my mother moved me to the other end of the state away from my father and that side of the family so i was basically raised white.

so here i am lookin to learn what i should of learned when i was young. so here i am ready to learn. so if there are any willing to teach me i would so appreciate it.

my dads father was full chickasaw and my dads mother was 3/4 cherokee, so these are the traditions and ways i'm wanting to learn, so if anybody can help with this i would so greatly appreciate it.
PEACE and wavin a hand littlefoot

The best advice I can give you is don't be picky or turn something down that crosses your path just because it's not "chickasaw" or "cherokee". I'd turn down anything that charged me money if it crossed my path though.

Your best bet on finding out the old ways is to seek out an elder. And as far as someone wanting to charge you for information on the old ways, always turn that down its going to be a scam. Traditional leaders and people offering info all believe in the idea that information is free what you do with that information is your choice the only thing they should ever ask you to do is pass on your knowledge to others seeking what you are or what you were. If you want you can send me a message or we can continue to talk on here, but i can try and help you to find somone. I know how hard it can be the guy who i finally found moved to colorado last year and now its become even harder to find somone hes haveing trouble finding someone willing to teach anyone knew down her in oklahoma so..

`The best way to learn is from your family. If your family does not practice the old ways, either they are too far removed from their heritage that they don't know, or you're not what you claim to be. In any case, you should seek your tribe, visit the reservations, and find your relatives. They will introduce you to the community, and thus a tribal elder. that elder, will not pass on the wisdom very easily. You have to be patient, and willing to work for many years prior to an elder trusting you with the knowledge.

`Hello,
May I to ask something?
I´m seeking the whole my life, who to live tradicitions in this world, today. My self and my family are going to sweatlodge by us - in Middle Europe. Native from Canada leads these ceremonies. Our family - we´re praying about our drum every day. And I know, that many natives in rez don´t live with old way. But I mean, that practisions of traditions doesn´t the most important. It suffices to live among natives and there is Great Spirit there. They themselves are the bearers of traditions in daily life, in their nature, in their relations etc. I mean, if native home finds himself, hi lives his traditions.
That´s way I desire to meet natives from rez very much. I desire to live with them. Although it´s very haevy.
Thank you and excuse me my badly English
Jarmi

`Because of past laws and the treating of native people, it isn't easy to learn the old ways due to fear. Hang in there littlefoot something will happen when you least expect it to. All good medecine Dove Woman Calling

`I 2 was raised by white people and alienated from any Native relations, tho my lineage is much more white. Despite many years of trying, I have not been able 2 locate any Native relatives. And my "mixed" relatives I do not get along with so well, due 2 many betrayals, on their part. Unfortunately I think some people stay away because they want 2, and some u could call "family", may not turn out 2 b someone u really want 2 know. I have come 2 realize much of what you seek is right inside of you, and u need look no further than inside yourself 2 find the answers. That is where all your ancesestors live! Inside you! Sometimes things will come 2 you in dreams. I sometimes wonder if there are any true teachers left, or think maybe all anybody possesses is a partial knowledge, so we must really teach ourselves, in a lot of ways. The spirits r always there 2 guide us. Of course its also nice 2 have a supportive community, when u can get it.
