`First of all, Mexican is NOT a race, it is a NATIONALITY.
It means like you are going through an identity crisis.
So you can be both white (i.e. a member of the caucasian race) AND Mexican (of mexican nationality or citizenship).
Now like it or not, you cannot "divorse" what you are. Your genes are your genes, and from the look of it, blond hair and all, you are pretty much caucasian. So unless science breaks through in the next decade or so, and manages to change your DNA, you were born white, you ll die white. Make friends with your color.
I can call myself Cleopatra Queen of the Nile. That does NOT make me Cleopatra...
So you can call yourself whatever you want, but I would be carefull not to offend people.
Some people are offended by what they understand as "culture vultures" or "wannabes".
I like the natives, but I can never be anyhthing else than the thing I was born.. that is Greek.
So I can have admiration for them, and express it, but If I go out there saying that "I divorse my Greekness and I am now a native" some might laugh and some might be insulted.
I am not proud of what certain members of the white race have done. (Among other things they have enslaved the Africans -and some whites as well but thats another story- and they have tried to wipe out the natives).
I cannot identify myself with them though, first of all I am Greek, not English, Dutch, French or Spanish, so .... my nation does not have THAT blood on its hands, and then, this is NOT me.
So, while I critisize and clearly see the past, and I understand the wrong doing of the white man... hey... not all your fingers in your hand are the same...
Generalization is a fascistic practice. Generalizing and saying that all white people are crap, is just as bad as creating general stereotypical ideas about members of other "races".
To recap... genetically I am Greek, nationaly I am Greek, racially I am caucasian, culturally I am mostly Greek, but philosophically and morally I am HUMAN.
Certain things, you just cant change sweetie, one of these is the blood that runs in your vains
Be friends with your self, and accept who you are.
I am not saying so because I feel that being white is a great thing and a thing to be proud of...
I am saying this because I think it is essential for ALL people to feel good in their skin, be proud of their heritage, and not having to hide their identity.
