Okay, I'm not gonna say what tribe I am but we have been pretty messed up for a long while. Anyways, I was on contract with the Bureau and it ended last week. So I go see this guy who is kind of in charge. We start talking about jobs available and I have been an administrative assistant for about 13 years, the guy starts talking about how good his secretary is and how no one could be as good as she is and that since I don't have a degree I can' be an Administrator but he thinks his secretary is so good he's gonna take her under his wing and train her personally. I know her and like her but she is around 21 this is like her 3rd job in 2 years, first she was fired, 2nd job the program got pulled and now she's his secretary. She's only worked with the tribe. She is always in trouble, parties a lot,and wears tight clothes and short skirts. I mean hey, maybe she is a good worker but to totallly blow me off and out right just come out and pretty much say they don't need me, I was sooo mad. Mostly all of their directors don't have their degree's. They haven't worked anywhere but the tribe, and they are rude to everyone who comes in, oh, except their families. I cried all Friday evening. I don't know why, I have worked other placed beside the tribe and bureau and know I could go almost anywhere. I guess, it just really bothered me because I thought our tribes looked for experienced people. I don't have a degree but I am educated. What do you guys think? Have you or anyone you know gone through an experience like this?

Mk2"u" baby!

`I was reading this and thinking..although not in a tribal sense, I suppose, but just human experience in a lot of places..I have seen where good and experienced people are let go of a job they have been at for years because someone younger and cheaper comes in. Sometimes I dont think QUALITY is a factor in the society in general the way it is. And Mk2 I have seen your photo and you are a very attractive woman in your own right..you dont need the tight clothing and deer in the headlight look to be appealing. Maybe they did you a favor and you can move on where you will be appreciated for the real qualities you have to offer...maybe you already have. Take Care.

`Hello there:) Don't apologise for responding to a post where the person has deleted. I strongly feel that there are others that have dealt with the same thing whether it's this particular subject or others. If the original poster isn't around, responding very likely will help another. I think you are right when you say she should count herself lucky for being let go. I mean who wants to work for people like that anyway? I hope that she found a new position where she is appreciated for her abilities rather than for her appearance. It's a
sad thing that this goes on, not just in the social world i.e. dateing and friendships, but also in the professional world. At this point we're all supposed to be adults and act like them. Too often it seems we act in a petty manner towards others. looking at appearances, rather than qualifications. Too often it seems corners are cut and this is a dangerous practice. Whether it's construction, healthcare, banking, government ect doesn't matter. Foundations or structers can become weakend/compremised in some way, risking total collapse and/or ruin. THe aftermath of which people moan and cry about when it all could have easily been prevented. It's not just the doe eyed cotton for brains people that are kept on when it's obvious that they have no clue let alone any qualifications but those who act in a corrupt manner that undermine and threaten everything. I don't mean to sound all gloom and doom but it's those little things like hireing a person because of attractiveness rather than qualifications and the big things like cutting corners that can at the very least do damage to a company/organisation/foundation and at the most cause complete ruin. I don't know if anyone agrees but this is what it feels like to me.
