Maya may turn on the light
to see you grope in the blackness of night,
wrapped in a fine film of cobwebs
spun from lies, she looked in your eyes
to tell you that she's not in disguise,
but you listened and thought you were sitting
in church, taking her angelic words
for holy writ, but now you are hit
with the blinding reality of the s**t
you swallowed in blissful ignorance,
falling in love in a tunnel of love
where Maya may increase or decrease speed
to watch the expressions on your face,
to listen to your heart race,
to feel your pulse quicken
until she takes you to a place
where Maya may be a princess again,
after being made queen for a day.
And you will not run away.
But, Maya may.
