I am in room with no doors and no windows
I am sitting waiting, always waiting
There is a knock on the wall
I retreat to the corner
the knocking turns into banging
the banging is so loud I cannot hear myself think
I begin to cry, I want them to go away
I hear crying outside the walls
I scream, and they scream back
the screaming gets louder and louder and louder
I cover my ears and close my eyes to make it go away
the screaming comes to a sudden stop, slowly I open my eyes
the walls have turned into glass walls
outside I see an oasis of green
the sun's light is so beautiful, it makes me cry harder for a moment
then I realize there is a door, also made of glass
behind the door is a woman
she is waiting patiently
she smiles and waves
with a shock, I realize the woman is me
I smile back, and wipe the tears from my face
I get up and walk to the door,
because somehow I know this is what I was waiting for,

And let me in.
