Women and Love

and I would drink from the fountain of the gods..
a seal without a key for another, dancing on the power of Truth
against which there are no odds.
But man...I was born a woman!

`thank you.. i always knew how i had wished to be loved. but i got to a point where 'well..ya know this just may not happen in this lifetime'.. so i decided to write about it instead. a way of giving it life I guess.

Anyway, I have been thinking of the statement on what we think the most we recieve. I have a lot of experience with this type of thought..especially when I lived in the West coast. The problem I have had with that is that it tends to make victims the purpetrators and lessens responsibility of the truly evil choices make in regard to thier fellow humans. Some people are just trusting and get taken advantage of for that..there are predators out there. Plus add to this that I have been a paramedic for years and I wonder what a 3 or 6 year old 'thinks' to bring some of the evil on them that has fallen on them..or someone who tries to get out of a bad situation to make a better life for her and her children and winds up shot dead for that. Or worse that I wont name here. Nice thought to dream beautifully and have that manifest in ones life.. But others nightmares have a way of intruding on dreams sometimes.

i was in this situation - left a man who was beating me and my son from a previous relationship - also took my 1 year old boy from him... the 3 blocks that i had to travel to get to the shelter were so hard. i thought he would come around the corner at any moment, but i got away... and now, i help victims of domestic violence. This last post touched me very deeply, flashbacks sort of and its sad that it still affects me even after almost 23 years :(

`It take an awful lot of courage to leave an abusive relationship. That is also the most likely time a woman is to be killed also. The amount of abusive relationships in society I find just sickening. I had my own terror ridden flight from a wing-nut with my children and dont care to repeat it. The actual getting out that morning while he was at work in a time frame I was hoping was safe before he decided to 'check up' on us was so horrible that I had nightmares about it for a little over a year. The last 'nightmare' I had I was actually resting on second call at work and thought he walked into the room I was in..I jumped up and ran into the hall then I looked around and realized I had been dreaming. It was over a year later and we were living half way across the country... that was the last time tho and that was a year or so ago. It is so nice that you get to use your experience and work with victims of domestic violence now to give them support and didnt become a statistic yourself. (I dont work 'with' victims actually..just try to put back together the physical mess the 'event' leaves behind on the person... when called to do so.)
