I came upon this land
in the days of the short shadows.

Before my eyes
stretching as far as the horizon
were flowers of every kind
of every hue.

Each stood proud
heads held high
dancing in the wind.

Soon the season changed
and the shadows grew long.

Flowers began to fade
losing their ----er
fallen leaves revealing
the skeleton of a once unique being.

Such is the way of life
and I await the day that they will return
and again I may behold
their beauty.
