"The ultimate skill is to take up a position where you are formless...
"if you are formless, the most penetrating spies will not be able to discern you, or the wisest counsels will not be able to do calculations against you..." 'The Art of War', Sun Tzu

"Twenty-Two Foundation letters: He engraved them, he carved them,
He permuted them, He weighed them,
He transformed them,
And with them, He depicted all that was formed
and all that will be formed." 'Sefer Yetzirah' (The Book of Creation), author (who knows?)

I found this interesting that these are from two different traditions, but my interpretation is that where they kind of fit together today. It takes courage to tell others who we are. Takes us from an unknown into a kind of formation..we become real to another. Those that wish to protect themselves I suppose remain silent with others, never allowing themselves to really be known. They remain without clear definition to another. ...Also, when we speak we allow others to know who we are..good or bad. There is some power in knowing another in that we are placing ourselves into anothers hand, in a sense, with the ability now to cause us some harm. I was told once by a woman "never let others see what they can do to you" she didnt want me to react and become vunerable. Thats not in my nature I guess. Anyway, also I have seen where when someone wants to gain control over another they seek to control thier speech almost straight away, or tone of voice--to seek control over thier language and thereby a sense of thier identity as an individual that is threatening to them in some way.
So speech, or lack of it..one way or another depending on the usage I guess, is power. It is forming..taking apart...revealing, or keeping one safe by withholding. Tear down an individual, or build them.
Just thoughts I have read and ideas about them while I muddle through some ways of thinking, and strange encounters with speaking or not.
Brave people who maintain thier ability to speak.
