WHEN THEY GOT VICTIM OF RAPE?????
One of three Native women suffer ------ assault in their lifetime, they got two and a half times more likely to be abused by their partners and most of all goes out unpunished. These statistics are reported by Amnesty International. Tribal governments have no criminal jurisdiction over non-indians. Often there are less than 10 officers on duty on millions of acres of tribal land. It often takes hours for the police to get to the place of, sometimes it takes days to reach the victims. More of 86 percent of rapes against Native women are carried -out by non -native men, most of them white who look out for Native women on reservation knowing that there will be no justice for the victim. They are laughing about their crimes in public because they will not be held accountable. Most Native women never report ------ assaults and if they do they often watch the perpetrator go free. Not only that justice is elusive for Native women often even the report of the.The Health systems on most reservations is a cathastrophe, nurces are not trained to take care for victims and do not know how to act after the crime.

WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE IS THIS SENDING OUT ???

1. To the Native men: Go out and abuse your wife..make it traditional!

2. To the white men: Go out and hunt and Native women, it will be digged by the law anyway.

3. To the Native women: Alice Walker once said: " The black women is the muli of the world" What are Native women???? Before AI reported this into the public in 2007 most white women have not been aware of this problem which is going on since hundreds of years..what a shame and how disgraceful!

`Straighteyes, I have heard of those statistics. It is heart breaking not to mention frustrateing to hear that there is no protection for the Native American woman especially in terms of assault or. It is also unfortunate that there is not large enough presence of police so that more help can be given/received more quickly to those who have suffered any crime. I was ignorant of the fact that none of the reservations have the right to arrest a nonresident for anything, let alone anything as disgusting and cowardly as. I wonder if anything could be done to give all Nations/Tribes juristiction to arrest, try, and convict anyone on the reservation who commited a crime like this, even if the offender lives off the reservation. and is white. I mean the crime was committed on the reservation they shouldn't have the right to a trial off the reservation with a nonNative jury. That is so terrible, and incredibly wrong that there are no words to describe it. Is nothing able to be done to stop that?

`well,horses06, I worked with women and children for 25 years and all I can say: If my daughter would get and abused..you´ll see a mother on warpath. In that case I do not take prisoners. I would hunt them with no respect, I would kill them with no respect I would burn them and dig them.. there is no law system that really protect children and women, no man around anyway to do that. As Maggie Thatcher once said: "For nice words go listen to a man, if you need activities go ask a woman." Women should learn to stick together to protect theirselves..but many women listen to men ...and got messed up..
