We have sat back and done nothing while our Country has been taken over..
You cheer the Democrats and the Republicans like they were your favorite football team, blindly echoing their talk points without daring to think for yourselves.
Swallowing whatever propaganda the media groups feed you.
Reporters no longer report the new, they simply parrot whatever the Government tells them.

The war, our economy, our social issues are read to us by empty headed news readers.
Our young men and women are dying in far off lands. Our jobs are going overseas. Our Country is being over run by foreigners who do not respect our culture, language, or ideals.

Our courts are a joke. Our children are illiterate. Our economy is in the gutter.
Political correctness is the new Racism, our culture, beliefs are under attack. A war has been waged against them for decades now..It was slow and insidious and we didn't care, because we are taught not too...
We were kept silent on diets of movies, television, and pop music..

Instead of voting in our elections we voted for reality show contestants.
You can'T name The Bill Of Rights, but you can name all the members of the latest boy band.
We allow our children to idolize musicians who glamorize drug dealing,murder, and promiscuity.

Now we idolize this new president like he's a god ??? Who cares if he has Native blood? Do you think he's going to save us? No he's going to tax us that much more.
We do not need bigger Government!!

I keep up with most all political happenings both locally and in the USA.What would you have us do..start a revolutionary war..get in the street and fight it out or march on Washington..what is YOUR solution pray tell. Truth be told examining the agenda Obama is working on I can say one thing..at least he is really trying to make a difference.

`this is too touchy of a subject, and for me i am unable to choose a side on this cuzz theres issues that are valid on both. i am not a republican or a democrat and dont know how i could ever be aligned with or teamed up with either side. the best i can do is live in a system that i detest and hope for the best.

`dunno..but you know the man is over turning things left and right. Just last night he over turned a descrimination law that prevented women from suing employers for unfair pay. Used to they had a 180 day cap on it. Not anymore. Now a person can sue for unequal pay when they find out they are being screwed. There are other laws Obama is passing left and right..I just read this one this morning. Point being if you don't try..and KEEP trying then you won't ever get anywhere. if anyone is going to do anything..now is the time to do it.

`another thing..you talk about occupation. Think about this. It was inevidable that the North American Continent was founf or disciovered by someone..somewhere at some time. This would have happened anyway. You can either stay stuck in the past, mourn what actually you never knew and do nothing or you can fight tooth and nail for change. Africans were brought here as slaves..packed in dark hulls of massive gallies, many laying next to dead and dying ones. They were the lowest of the low. Now, we have a president that is African American, mixed to be precise. That should be a HUGE whistel for you blowing that times are indeed changing. if the slave class of a country can rise to become one of the most influential people on this earth..what makes the difference between you and them? I think it is high time that if natives want the changes they say they do that they study what the African Americans did and emulate it.

`any black american of influence to his people or anyone else in this country has met the same fate. so yea we can all run around and blow the whistle of change but in the end anyone of color that has tried to affect change in his color or mobilize his people has ended up in leavenworth or been shot. that my dear is history we have lived. so yea this occupation we didn't live that turned into assimilation my direct family did live has now became the smoke and mirrors shows we are living. i do admire your desire to affect change and your hope that things will just get better with the mixed presidents laws and bills that basically last 4 years or until the next one decides to overturn them. i do agree that north american looking at history was destined to be discovered but had we the choice of assimilation, occupation, ation, and reservation? i think my people, all native people, would just assumed go out fighting. i know i sure would have and should the day my people unite and the world gets that bad i'll be there with bells on.

Not being mean, but you are only looking at one side of things. If changes, real and lasting ones had not been made then i would have to be barefoot and pregnant. I could not work or leave the house and my only hope would be to have a nice man marry me..and most likely I would have gotten no choice in the matter. My father would have chosen him, brokered a deal and pretty much sold me. Oh yes and I would not have the right to vote or express my opinions..and if I did it would be assumed I suffered from madness and was forced to have a hystorectomy. that is what used to happen to white women who thought too much.
There too is the matter of getting our holy symbol recognized by the VFW..that took over ten years, but enough court cases and steady perserverence got my holy symbol accepted by the VFW and is now put on head stones for those who die in the military..changes are possible but you have to fight like hell to get them.
Too, if REAL change had not occured then blacks would still be slaves or indentured servants at best. There is no way men like Fredick Douglas would have ever held office. There is no way Obama would have ever made it to the our president.
There are ALWAYS those who fight against changes..and there always will be. One thing is for certain though..if you don't try you have no right to complain. I have been privilaged to make friends that I exchange emails with. They work their asses off for changes in their own native communitites..with very little result. it does not come from the outside but according to them it is the people themselves that will not budge. You just can't expect to have things 100% your way, or for someone to take you seriously if you don't make a lot of noise. it just doesn't work like that.
While things have been done wrong in the past..it is the past and what you have is now and today. What you8 do with it is 100% on you. You can either view things pessemisctially or you can fight you butt off..go down fighting..to get your peopole what they need. I have always said one of the biggest issues with you guys is frankly..the masses have no idea what is going on.
The issue that I have observed with native is a distinct lack of unity. I don't understand it or the dynamics of it, but it is there...or rather not there.
if people at large don't know about you, your issues and what happens then they can't do a thing about it.
There are kind and charitable people out there..I am one of them, but I am the first to tell you if you won't stick up for you, don't expect me to do it.

I'm not here to debate past atrocities. I believe nothing will change for the good. All we will get is more Government, and it is a fact that big Government does not work!!! I can not even imagine 8 yrs. of this president. We are marching toward Socialism, and Socialism does not work .

One more thing Obama doesn't even help his own blood brother who lives in a hut in Africa on $12.00 a year, why would anyone think he gives a dam about the rest of us???

End of my thoughts on this subject that seem to get way off topic of the original post by hugger..I will say no more..

`Obama made a video title "Message for the first americans", and it is on Nativeweb, If anyone wants to see it. I won't express my opinion of Obama. All will say is that unity starts at home, and with our children. They see the way we behave, and it spreads to other children, and they grow up and pass it on. I always felt that people should love The creator,themselves, their children, relatives, friends, and Their tribe. I have always taught my daughter to treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Obama will show his true agenda, and if he can be trusted, believed or not. Watch this video, and see if he fulfills his promises to" The first Americans" or if he is walking in the footsteps of his White Political Companions.It appears that he is not what he wants us to believe....... we shall see..........

`hugger, ty for this post.. I agree.. be aware..obama is not from the republic party but who are the other ones?? They too represent the main society which is not black and red is far,far away from that. The dominant society is white, white means money and this people want their interests on top. And they voted Obama. Tell me why should Obama shoot into his own feet? He might scratch the surface a little bit and put some new colour on the frontier..but under this surface he will cook the soup of the dominant society..
