Posted:     Post subject: Tarot readings..Phrasing your question

Just how important is phrasing your question when getting a tarot reading? How do you phrase it and what should you ask thew cards or a reader?First off how you as your question is as vital as the cards themselves and the layout used. I am going to break it down into three sections of concern and hope that it s people in a better understanding of tarot, and divination in general. Section one-The Cards. Most decks are based on the Ryder-Waite-Smith deck which was developed originally in it's current form by, of course the above mentioned people. Many more decks of the past seven or some years however are following a totally different arena. While you have in the Clone decks as they are called sometimes the four suits, Swords, Wands, Cups and Disks, these decks can be based in something else entirely different. Take the deck i love to read, The Fairy Ring Tarot..very innovative deck that is truly apart from the RWS clones. Instead of twenty two major arcana it has eight festival cards that bring the energy of that Sabbat into you life, or lets you know it's coming..or lets you know you REALLY need to work on some things. Instead of the four suits there are the four seasons..and these are not meant to replace the suits, but rather can tell you sometimes what season, spring, summer, winter or fall an event may come to pass in your life. Too the seasons are there to let you know when each Fey that shows in your readings is predominantly seen and this too can give insight into it's nature. Reading the deck as the person who designed the deck intended is important. Many say..and it is true especially with the RWS clone decks that you don't have to read reversals. I guess with the clones maybe not. With other decks though because they aren't exactly based in the traditional decks it would be far wiser to just do as the designer of the deck says to do. There are decks out there that do not read reversals at all and if you don't want to read them and want to make sure you get a good deck then maybe look into one of these. The layout or spread- The layout is every bit as important as the cards. Most are familiar with the Celtic Cross..but there are far more spreads out there and for a good reason. One spread cannot cover every sort of question to satisfaction. For instance, if you have a choice to make a Celtic Cross reading will give you the outcome of one choice over another..but in order to see the outcome of both choices simultaneously you have to use a different spread that will actually show you that. not all spreads are alike nor do they work the same. When you are getting a reading it is best to look at some spread and see which ones seem to give the type of information you are looking for. Become at passingly familiar with layouts so that when you get a reading you will know more about what you are actually getting. Too if learning tarot..please learn more then one spread...there are many to The Question..now this is vital to a good reading. We know that a good reader must focus his or her attention to the person they are reading for and on the subject matter. Because different spreads work differently it is important to understand not all spreads will answer a multi layered question. if you have more then one thing going on it usually is far better to simply ask what is most important for you to know at this time. Otherwise think upon the layout as opposed to your question..will the spread work? If it is a complex issue do you think a simple reading will suffice? Sometimes it will have to do, but other times perhaps you can do a bit more with it. Phrasing your question is important. Vague questions get vague answers. Concise questions usually get concise answers. It is important for the Querent to know what sort of information he or she is after in order to really get the best out of their reading. For example, are you wondering over a choice to make? State the choices and see which comes out of the better. Make sure the layout you use actually will read the different choices you make. Be clear in your questions, take a moment to learn new spreads and really get into tarot. Blessed Be Amanda
