Your name inspired me completely to let you in on a couple of books that I would assume you'd like. The first is Tree: a Life Story by David Suzuki and Wayne Grady.
The second is Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. The first book is kind of a book which dotes upon trees using the story of a particular tree, a douglas fir. This book is definitely meant to be read from cover to cover and not patchy and lucidly by opening up to random pages, etc. It reads like stereo instructions that way. It has a linear pattern that was perfected by the author.
The second book focuses very intensely on environmental issues, but does not leave you lacking like a lot of books. For example, some books like to tell you, no matter what the topic, that things suck and that's that, but in this book, it actually gives you ways in which to remedy the situation and help the environment.
Hope you will pick them up and give 'em a chance I definitely thought of the book Tree: a Life Story when I saw your screen name for the first time and I definitely believe in signs!
Enjoy! :)

`Oh and I suppose I should tell you the name of my most favored book of all time. It does not have anything to do with trees, but it does have to do with nature and personifying it. You might have heard about it or even read it before. It's called the Disobedience of the Daughter of the Sun by Martin Pretchel. It is an old Mayan Tale retold. It is pretty much the story of daughters and how protected and respected they are amongst the ancient Maya culture. Her dad is the personified Sun and her mom is the personified Moon...but I think it is truly, even though it is called the Disobedience of the Daughter of the Sun, about the hardships between mothers and daughters and just how hard coming of age is.
Hope you like them! Please give me feedback as you read them.
