Earth in my hands
warm beneath my fingers
Sun beating my shoulders
like the throbbing
of love's desire
blue mountains
beyond my reach
eternal sky above
vast as the love
within my heart
emptiness within
hollow silence
I stand alone
you're not here
life moves on
oblivious to
the ache within
I bend to my
work again

`I think any woman (or man, but I'm coming from my own perspective) who finds themselves with dreams that weren't attained(the blue mountains beyond reach) and the memories of passion(heartfelt; not booty-call type) that is to me the heat of the sun-that is now a memory buried under the weight of the details of daily living. Also the memories of love that was lost that we carry within us while life goes on and dealing daily w/others who don't really know who we are or the pain we carry in the experience of loss that comes w/the passage of time. But also there is the eternal sky in your poem a symbol that there is hope and the love we carry in us still. Eternity; and what created us still providing us with enough love to be sustained. Now I dont know if this was your meaning for you while you were writing-but that's what it was to me... this site and the people in it has sure stirred memories in me. Not what I was expecting at all. For the most part good. At other times it's reminded me of hanging out in the bar and made me glad those days are far behind me. Either way I'm glad for it all. I feel poetry stirs memories in the heart that I otherwise become very disconnected from. Again, Thank you Ravenwoman
