You know what I think? I think there are a lot of pure white people that like to pretend to be Native Americans because they are bored and feel their *white* ancestry is not exciting enough for them. They want to find something to belong to, something unique that sets them apart from everyone else...thus, they make up the most believable lie they can and want to believe in it SO MUCH they start literally believing it's true. Why can't people just be people that are interested in another peoples culture? I hear this BS all the time while the blonde hair blue eyed white person is telling me they are half Cherokee or their grandma was half Cherokee.
I cannot believe you primates still claim this BS. Do you have a BIA number? Being that much native then you can register with the BIA and actually partake in the administration of your tribe in some way, but no, there is ALWAYS the same excuses! Why? Because THEY are caught in their lies and try to save face. I am more than happy to be a white Hispanic American with my ancestors coming forth was Espana and Flanders. Be happy with who you are my god. The first thing I see when I come to these forums is how the *white man* is hated. lol No less by a *white man* saying it. That is the funniest thing I've ever seen.
All people are or were oppressed at some time in their lives. Even the Americans were oppressed by the British, the British by the Romans, the Romans by the various barbarian hordes, those hordes by the Romans, the Greeks by the Macedonians, the Macedonians by the Persians blah blah blah blah blah. Cry me a freakin river already. My ancestors were oppressed by the Moors, the English, and the French. You don't see me whining about it do you? Quit pretending to be something you are obviously not.

It helps me at least, to realize ALL Nations were and are still demonic or evil to some extent .... none of them are or ever were the Creators ideal, but I also think in this age, there is a trans-national-peoples that are starting to get life from the Life Giver, not nationalism.

`I live on a Reservation in the Pacific northwest and, maybe the people here are just extraordiary, but there isn't the bickering about this stuff. there are lots of red haired, blond haired, freckled, and blue eyed tribal members. Working at the tribal clinic there are people I work with who are "decendants of...", not the blood quota required for full tribal membership, and they are treated like family and loved here. I understand the reasoning of identification by number, but linking personal identity with a number treads spooky possibilities to me (must be the 1/4 jewish blood in my veins speaking.)
In a large world rife with criticism and short on love its little wonder to me that people seek elsewhere, anywhere to identify..just to have hope there might still be something left of 'sacred' that may brush by.

There is such sincerety and truth in your words. Love and acceptance the stuff that truly makes the world go round.

`If you're a member, card-carrying member of your tribe, you're a Native. If you're a Native, I'll respect you as one. I don't respect people as a member of my Native community if they had to do some goddamn genealogy to realize they're ancestry. That's usually the first sign someone is full of s---. Of course exceptions do apply, but those are very rare. Be happy with your culture, even if it isn't an ndn one. Just don't tell yourself and others you're a part of my ethnic and cultural group when you're not, no matter how good you think your intentions are. You're misrepresenting a group that could really use some ----ing peace and quiet from non-Natives.

Yeah I have a problem with the "embracing my heritage thing"
Do you even know what heritage is?
Heritage is property or beliefs that are passed down from generation to generation. (Look it up)
You aren't embracing your heritage because nothing has been passed down to you. Your fake Cherokee names and moronic story of a Medicine man showed that.
You instead are (unsuccessfully) attempting to embrace a heritage that you were not raised in or a part of.

Just a reminder to everyone that the TOS (Terms of Service) within the site, and the rules of the forum, state that personal attacks of other members is not permitted.
This thread has a number of comments within it that cross the line into personal attacks.
Generally, we try to stay out of the forum(s) because we feel that this is the member's area, and you should be able to speak freely...but every now and then we get pulled in to remind people to be nice to one another.
If you cannot say something nice, at least DO NOT say something mean.
You are risking having us delete your entire account (across the whole network) by posting a snarky comment about someone within the forum area.
We are going to be taking a more active role in enforcing this rule...so be very careful before you post any comment in the forum area that is meant to put someone else down for any reason.
Take this warning seriously!
Thanks,
Big Brother!
