Posted: Post subject: Veiw of Love and Relationships from a middle aged woman |
|
|
This is my first foray into the world of online dating. Not really sure what to expect here, however I did want to ask some questions. I am one of many women in middle age who are finding themselves suddenly single. I am also one of many women who are finding themselves very dismayed by the criteria men & many women are using to base relationships upon.
Why is it so important that a woman be educated in a certian way or to a certain degree to make a man deem her finacially viable to move up in the world?
This is all I am hearing these days from men & it makes me wonder whether or not it is better that I live out the rest of my life single.
Sex seems to be a no mans land which may or may not mean anything. I cannot see myself hooking up with someone for nothing these days, which is why I am happy to sit on my hands literally.
I am of the generation that found meaning in the Donna Reed show, who grew up with two parents (who are still together after 60 years).
I no longer trust those who claim to want to love & hate feeling that way

`Thundercloud, i am sad at this post. Not because i don't find truth in it, but because i think there is a lot of truth in it. I could write an essay here on why i feel relating in this society is like wading through a sewer and seems to be getting worse...but i will spare people that.
I will say that i do hope you find love and your best friend on your search. I am sure there are some men as dismayed as you are, and hope for the days where there still may be a sacred with another.
take care

`Thundercloud, I hear your pain, too. All I can say is that I have decided that if I am to find my soulmate, I have to be true to myself. It often means checking someone out with the idea of seeing the world through their eyes.
I recently met someone who I was pretty sure would not be the right match, but still had enough going for him to befriend him. There was no magic, but I did get to spend time with someone doing what we both liked to do - hiking, visiting places special to him. He's a veteran. I went to a pipe ceremony on Veterans Day and emailed him. The posts are simple, but at the very least, I have a new friend.
I figure if I keep doing what I love and care about, I'll find my soulmate along the way. And even if I do end up alone - I'll have had some beautiful adventures.
Want to know what makes my heart sick? People who destroy beauty when they could make different choices? I'm heartsick at the destruction of the Occupy Wall Street Library in New York City - yeah, the place is insane - but still - I cataloged books for that library. The books were in storage totes and could easily have been put on a truck and put in a warehouse. Instead the NYPD and the Sanitation Dept. tore the books up. I told these police officers that if they thought the protesters were angry children, then their behavior was the equivalent of breaking the child's leg and destroying the child's toys. A truly loving parent would put the child in a time-out chair and take the toys away until a condition was met.
So - in this astoudingly brutal world - I hope there are things that you cherish and spend time doing.
Blessings,
JJ

`" Naturewriter......I was astounded to hear the bit about the Wall Street
Library !!.........That did'nt get any mention over here in OZ !
As a great lover of books in general I can only but empathise with you,
and admire your courage in 'that' confrontation !!
Did those 'departments' offer any explanation for such action ?
It's tantamount to the 'burning of books' form of extremism !!
It beggars belief !.......Blessings and take care...........Whiteowl47.
