“Existence Lostâ€Â
I cannot count
How many times have I cried
I shed my tears with remorse and regrets
I see the Indigenous struggle
To save what was once beauty
A land of beauty
I see polluted waste blowing by
As the winds blow this litter
Through out the sacred lands
I see government housing replacing our sacred Hogans
I see a new NDN ghetto
As government housing litters Dine' taa
Is this how it will be
Has our pride been lost
How can one feel they are home
When the picture of yesterday's beauty
Has been replaced with today's ugliness
Bitah doo hats'iid da (To feel ill)
What happen to the words of the ancients
How do we not hear them anymore
Is our journey toiling into the dark existence
Into the ominous darkness
Are we so inadequate
Have we lost the wisdom of the stars
We must find our spiritual existence
We must find the beauty that seems lost
We need to find the reflection of this lost image
Or be lost in infinite inconsistency
We must wake up inside
Or be saved from nothing
Our original reality must not be lost
There will only be darkness in our dreams
There will no longer be a divine fragrance
Of Earth Mother’s pollen bless
We will not be able to find our sacred existence
We will no longer be able to sing our beauty song
We will shed our tears with remorse and regrets
I can not count
How many more times will I cry

`Your poetry is very interesting. I am trying to figure out if the loss that you are refering is a personal one or the native people. It is easy to forget who we are in a world that only teach us to be materialistic. Intersting writing.
I have to read it again to understand the meaning.

...because this was powerful, and speaks of what i have been thinking.
Personal loss IS a native ppls loss, the native ppls loss IS a personal loss. Both are losses to the world. My heart cries not just for the People of the Americas but all indigenous people. My blood has many cultures that were torn away, and some of it disappeared. I don't want to see it happen to those who care for Beauty and all that is Right. God strengthen your heart, and let the Great Spirit lead you on.
Thanks for this great poem

` The Rose , A Rose is so much love
It is sent from above our creator or god
A Rose Thorn can get you so hurt
But the pain prick heals by tomorrow
A Rose can be a gift
Feels good such an uplift
Love is also in the sky if grey
Rains come .wash sins every day xo love Spiriteyes777 poet and artist
