Hi , I was wondering just how many people Think that a friendship is a important part of a relationship. Why most time a relationship end and the friendship is over. or a Friendship end and seal any chance of a Relationship. Can one be in a long relationship and never attain friendship? Should the two be as one ? Just wondering how other's view a Friendship and a Relationship.

`That's really an interesting question.
I think that friendship is the cornerstone, if not the foundation of a relationship. In my experience, which is just one among many, when a relationship ends and the friendship is over it is because: 1) you were never really friends in the first place or 2) the level of hurt and betrayal that may have occurred in the relationship precludes the friendship continuing. Alternatively, you could form a "romantic" (friendships take time to cultivate and are usually involve mutual trust and respect, romance, in my mind, functions without either of those components) attachment to someone, which becomes the basis of the relationship, perhaps even culminating in a long term relationship or marriage, without ever having had a friendship. I don't know that the two should be one but perhaps should the be like two strands of the same cord, strengthening each other?
