Have heard that the Huichol have been holding their country and their culture pretty well until recently,
but I sense trouble there.
Would anyone with recent close knowledge
be willing to disclose what problems they are facing ?

`What I have seen, is that about twenty years ago, some folks started to export their material cultural resources in the name of art and such to america. This has caused a tidal way of more people to exploit the resource and we all know when that happens, it can actually have negative consequences. The whole northern region of mexico proper has under gone this transformation, but they balance of dollars needed and such will be determined.

`Yes,the Huichol people are under assault, but they are so strong in their culture they should remain intact at least for the near future, far future who knows.I have Huichol blood in my veins and I pray that they will always stay strong in El Costumbre(The Tradition). They are trying to take what is useful from the mainstream and yet still remain Indian, like many Nations. They are trying to have more direct control of their art sales, but have only been partially successful.Time will tell
