I was just looking at videos on youtube and some how I came across this video by Outcast doing a live performance to their song called, "Hey Ya!" I was mad at what I saw. I think it was disrespecting Native Culture. What do you think?

SEAWEED AND POM POMS HAHA!!! That's exactly what it looked. I think they couldn't jump around in the African outfit (naked or one of those long pole things the men were on the private parts) so they found some green crepe paper, and green feathers

`Well I'm okay with the video, I thought it was kinda cute how they were dressed. It's for entertainment purposes, and for some artists, its in the name, ART as I would say. I like Outkast, and if it were probably any other artist I wouldnt of liked the video.
As for my people, we've had our culture and way of live - exploited to the max, people fantasize and romanticize the look and the way of life of being ndn, and it's not the romantic fantasy people think it is, it's a very hard and tough way to live with the challenges we face. It is not easy, especially keeping our ceremonies sacred.
I went to a powwow in LA, California before, and I was so unimpressed because I seen blonde women in bikini suits, mini skirts with pink feathers in their hair, dancing with the men and dancing like the men. Our traditional teachings teach the women, that we cover our legs, cover our arms, wear dresses and don't show skin. This is such a big difference compared to how traditional people are in Canada. I think I have a right to speak for this because I am a warrior of my people, and yes, for our women, you will not see them exposing as much skin. Many people these days think it's cool to be ndn, and hey, I think it is cool too. I'm sorry, but I've seen other disrespectful ways to mimick ndns, but sorry,the Outkast video is cool to me, its just for entertainment, I like it and I love the song....I wouldve been happy if I seen this goin on live, I'd be tripping! I guess there is a time and a place for whining and crying racism, but I'm not going to waste my time saying that this is one of them. I think it's cool. I've seen other videos of non-native girls dancing around drunk to powwow music, now that is disrespectful.
Maybe if I ever do a piece on music and entertainment, I would have tribal paint and dance around like an african american, its contemporary art....

Rather you find things to be offence or just maybe you don' like the kind of music you are hearing Two thing's you can do. Turn the television to another channel ,or Plug up your ear's why make it a race thing.Why must every thing on this site lead back to one's wrap (skin) and that's not slang talk ha ha. Have we as people got nothing else to talk about? My mother always taught us that if you can't say something good about someone or their genetic makeup then shut your mouth.Now for those who talk what they don't know Just because you don't like it. One thing about the Black people music, They have million 's of dollar's to put in their pocket and their kid's and family not to mention friend's and whom ever they want to give too..Yes they made million with the beats and word's that came out of their mouth They are not lacking any thing how ironic is that huh. Now that's more then I can say for some folks .Reading these post make me wonder who jealous of whom?.
