I'm not there yet but I applied to NYU and SUNY-Brooklyn for Biotechnology because I'm sick and tired of being unemployable with just ONE Bachelor's degree. (probably BECAUSE I'm Choctaw Indian - and female. Two strikes!)
It seems like New York City might be the one last remaining place where someone stands a chance of getting somewhere, anything, by just showing up and proving you can DO it. I used to have some luck in San Francisco (being a Misfit of Society and all, just for having the "wrong" skin color for a Science major/teacher) but not anymore. San Francisco has NO place to live and you wait 8 or more years on a waiting list and NYC isn't quite that bad because you always have the other Boroughs and plenty of empty buildings (LOL).
