My pick up is a 1988 Ford F-150 King Cab, extended back, it has just under 150,000 miles on it..also has one cracked windshield that I got from a logging truck on Highway 101 in Washington State (up by the rear veiw mirror not bothering anything), some salt damage by the back fender from the winter roads on the 'plains' and it gets only 10 miles to the gallon in town, and can be a little loud at times...My truck has also got myself and my children to Washington State from Iowa, From Washinton State to Alabama, and then back to Iowa again without one glitch, and with very low maintenance. It has never left me stranded on the side of the road anywhere, and has got me out of a couple bad spots where I needed to go NOW. It has sat most of the winter, collected dirt and dust (lately) just sitting in the backyard, but when I got in and turned the key it started right up and was ready to go. I would have no worry or problem getting in it tonight and driving to California (if I could afford the gas that is.) We have fun too..sometimes I have found it fun driving down the road, music (white zombie, blondie, whatever) going and some girl walking down the street will hear it coming..they go to look back with a smile UNTIL they catch a glimpse of the driver, me, clearly a girl (yeah, no honks or whistles here:) Since I have had this truck I have gone thru 2 cars now as well..one Hyundai (couldnt handle the winter here and blew), also this Cutlass that the starter is going bad along with the transmission and is ready to bite the dust...everyone is pressuring me to get a newer car..even sell the pick up to do so. Why? It is paid for, and as I said..never let me down. Why get something with a bunch of electronics, and high maintenance with a bunch of fancy junk needed to "diagnose" some problem that will no doubt come about--just cause it looks good? I dont care about look good, I care that when I jump in-it's ready to go. Why would I want anything more...
