I am not Latino nor Hispanic. I want my racial and cultural identity to be respected
Author Carlos Q.C.
I like to talk about an issue that is very important thing when it comes to debating the situation of millions of undocumented immigrants. If you have noticed but you pay attention you can realize that most of so called “Latinos - Hispanics Immigrants" are not either. I personally value my Native American heritage most than anything else because thats what most of my culture and my background comes from. The words "Latino Hispanic" were kind of imposed by the USA government and the interest groups from the elites that control Latin America as a way to celebrate the European part of our heritage which exists but is NOT the majority and nerveless is the most important. Most of the immigrants from "Latin America" in the United States are Native American or African descent even those like myself who are mixed with other ethnicities we are mostly indigenous people and it is not just ethical background but it is CULTURAL, we speak Spanish most of us or Portuguese but we also have ancestors and relatives and friends who speaks hundreds of native languages unfortunately the education system en "Latin America" pushes the people to forget their native roots but the native languages still there. There are about one hundred of spoken native languages from Quechua, Aymara, Kishwa, Guarani. Mapuche, Kuna, you name it. There are hundreds of native languages still there and the native religion, the way of living, the foods, the way we speak the native languages, the way we live is strongly influenced by the music, arts, the poetry, literature, the dances, the way we dress all these cultural expressions are strongly influenced but different ethnicities and is totally unfair and discriminating to celebrate only the minority European heritage and denying the majority the main roots of our culture. Latin America not only have Europeans, not only have Hispanics, not only have Latinos, we also have Asians, Polynesians, Arabs, Africans, I think is very important to understand that we immigrants are not actually immigrants, we have been living in this continent for long time, way before the Unites States or Latin America was created. I think is important to know were you come from and who you are so we can tend to respect other people's cultures and ethnicities and value their diversity, value multicultural societies, and is not a beautiful speech based on my personal experience, I have noticed that the more I get to know about my own history the more I value and respect others. I think the one of the biggest problems in this so called "Latinos or Hispanic community" is the division that exists between light skin people, black skin people, between native people, between different nationalities. We don't usually get along unless is for politically correct then we all shake hands deep down the community still have some rivalries, some tensions that is because we don't know who we are everybody is trying to be a European.
If you see the Hispanic media you will know what I am talking about. Basically this video is intended to share my little personal opinion and knowledge with everyone else. The word Latino means European from the south and the Hispanic means from Hispania Roman province that includes Spain and Portugal so I like to say finally that the united states government has the share responsibility on the undocumented immigration because it's policies influences strongly the reality in Latin America. You can not stop the immigrations unless you stop colonialism imperialism and the way how the united states controls economic and governments in Latin America Finally I think there should be a way for the undocumented people to get into a legal path to citizenship because most of immigrants contribute to the economy to the society, taxes are being paid, benefits are being paid, and 905 of salaries of the immigrants that obtain in the united stated are invested within economy in this country, only 10% are sent back to Latin America. Please understand that our native ethnicities are very diverse and we are not just one group as Latinos or Hispanics. We are not less entitled to stay in this country and there should be a legal path to be respected but unless the immigration laws of united states are changed and there seems no possibility for that. The United States immigration law is obsolete; it is unrealistic and promotes human exploitation, human trafficking, labor exploitation and the benefit of the rich of both the United States and Latin America
We reject all European divisions of our continent.
We reject the artificial border divisions of our people.
We reject the White Supremacist ideology
that claims Europeans are permanently endowed with the right
to define us and classify us to their liking.
We include "First Nation" and "Native American" and "South American Natives" "Central American Natives and Mexican Natives" (All people with Native, indigenous roots of continent of America belong to Native Universe)
WE ARE NOT HISPANIC: Hispanics are the Spaniards, the people of Spain. We are not Spaniards! We are Natives, originals (Indigenous people) of this continent, the true owners of this continent. We are not Spaniards or the property of Spain. Calling ourselves "Hispanic" denies us our true Native identity, history and heritage. It enslaves us to the interests of the "Spanish" white world. Calling our people Hispanic is racist. Calling our people Hispanic is like calling the African descent people in the U.S. Britannic because they have British names and because they speak English.

`This thread kind of speaks closely to me. I'm in constant battle to reclaim my heritage as a Tlaxcaltecan/Yo'eme woman. For the records, I'm called Hispanic which is a virtual of my identity as a native woman. My family didn't sail across the ocean blue to land on this continent. My family was already here. The problem comes from the highly flawed federal governments that fail to recognize certain indigenous tribes and nations as if they have the right to pick and choose which nations are "real" and which ones are not. For my family that comes from the Yo'eme people, the nation was literally cut in half after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which in essence drew a line across our country on the Rio Grande, making half our nation illegals and half our nation "natives". Its absurd. For my family which comes from the Tlaxcaltecan nation we are largely gone unrecognized and labeled without ever given the presence that we once claimed to our own lands. Much of the Tlaxcalteca were forcibly moved north by the Spanish and displaced. We even have to fight for our right to have our own ceremonies and to preserve our indigenous traditions. For the most part, these have been stripped from us completely and we are slapped twice in the face by the Hispanic label that threatens our very existence as indigenous tribes and nations. There are no reservations in Mexico because we've been stripped of our identity and rights as native people; they wouldn't even allow us that.
Whats worse is not being accepted in the same struggles our northern cousins face. Because the colonizations rules seemingly prevail, I feel sometimes invisible even federally recognized nations.
