Easter is the oldest Christian holiday, but how much of the most public and common celebrations of Easter today remain Christian in nature? Many people go to church  far more than go the rest of the year  but what else? Easter candy isnt Christian. The Easter bunny isnt Christian. Easter eggs arent Christian. Most of what people commonly associate with Easter is pagan in origin; the rest is commercial. Just as American culture secularized Christmas, its secularizing Easter.
Spring Equinox:
Pagan roots of Easter lie in celebrating the spring equinox, for millennia an important holiday in many religions. Celebrating the beginning of spring may be among the oldest holidays in human culture. Occurring every year on March 20, 21, or 22, the spring equinox is the end of winter and beginning of spring. Biologically and culturally, it represents for northern climates the end of a “dead season and the rebirth of life, as well as the importance of fertility and reproduction.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

`Hi guys, Rblyl thankyou for your message & warm welcome ive tried to mini mess you back twice unfortunatly my hands are tied by the 'country level blocking'! Boo
Good one hugger easter or Eostre as it was originally called is a pagan festival the rabbit & hares were the most fertile animals known & served as symbols of new life during the spring. The early missionaries fearing blood shed decided to incorporate pagan festivals & celebrate in a christian manner renaming it eastre then eventually easter!
Happy Eostre,Eastre or easter all :)

Have you noticed though how christianity stole so many of the pagan rituals and declared them their own but in the process classed all pagans as devil worshipers...
Sorry for poo spelling....I haven't been to bed yet...been awake 22hrs and cannot sleep due to getting second wind...grrr

`I understand 'poo' spelling from being tired!!
Correct me if I am wrong (I dont mind..and I am sure I will be if I am!ha)
But I think the Christians themselves didnt really care for the pagan gods and such...but the Romans very much loved thier Gods and Goddessess and were unwilling to part with them..so Christianity had to make concessions to the Romans to have Chriatianity as the State Religion of Rome. As far as the Holidays same reasoning..and Convenience(?)
If people could go back in time (lose the perspective of this current situation in religion) I think they would see that the conditions for women were horrid in the Semetic religions. Women were just as owning an animal one breeds with--with the same NON rights..they didnt even have a say in thier own children, and could be booted out of thier lives for no reason except the man didnt want her anymore. So (yeah this may make some skin crawl) so Both Jesus and Muhammad attempted to gain some status for women (women could not own land if they were divorced by thier husbands at all and had no way to support themselves--so Islam gave them the ability to take thier land with them AND thier children in the event of divorce. He gave then status as human beings which wasnt happening in the middle east at all).
How things change in 2000 and 1400 years. After additions and rules were imposed by men unwilling to relinquish any control to those they deem as beneath them. Nothing has changed ultimately really. Now lets just kill the women if she is too much inconvenience, or cant be brought under control and dominion....as it goes for the planet as well I suppose.
Good morning!ha!

`They used to pagan holidays to get the pagans into christian religions, but if people would read about holidays they would see where they all originated from..Coinciding with Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall (Autumn to some)
