Posted: Post subject: Any career oriented Native American Orginizations out there? |
|
|
Hello everyone. I was wondering if there were any orginizations out there that help the Native American communities? I am not looking so much for a government position, or work with the BIA as everything I hear about them is that they have had issues with crooked behavior. I'm mostly looking for an orgnization that was developed and is run by Native Americans. I would like to do this as a career, but have had a hard time in finding anything. I'm looking for something honestly run, and I do not know who turn to, or who to trust. Any tribe/nation is fine, though I do want to just work with one or two, and stay with them. I do not want to run all over the country. Simply because I feel that I would be of better use , and be more effective to the people, if I were to concentrate on one or two tribes/nations. Anyone who has any ideas, please let me know, as I do have a genuine interest in helping out, and in doing this as a living.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm not so sure that there is a honest ran organization on the rez or anywhere for that matter. But I would aloso like to hear from any organizations or groups dealing with native americans in writing or art, any info would be appreciated.

I totally agree with you: I would love to get a career that helps out the Natve Americans. I'v been trying to research on this but unfortunately i don't think there's much. Maybe we can start a new buisness that deals with that.

All people of open heart and open mind are always on the right path, but as for me I found that looking around me are everywhere people who do need help or a friendly hand, natives or not. If you need an oragnization or asociation to guide you, have a look and ask at UNCP (United Nation of Cherokee People). My clan chief Bear Warrior and natives from other tribes make a joined effort to teach native youngsters, mostly city children. The Big Brother/Big Sister is another start, both have their webs on internet. Many blessings to all of you

AIM , american indian movement , they can help you a great deal of finding what you search for.
Though AIm is a basicaly a volunteer organisation , it works all over the world for ndn rights, activism etc, they sure would know some trustworthy places for you to go.
If you can't find what you look for, go ask at some reservations and tribal council members.. they often know what is needed and where to go.
Keep up the good work , we need more people fighting for our rights, and if you cant find what you look for , its a small effort to raise something yourelf with a few good friends to help us ndn's out. there are lots of us willing to help out.
i wish you good luck and hope that you find what you searcg for

Those people are looking for a paid job, a career in helping native americans, they are not interested in a volunteer thingy. That does not pay money.
