Do you Think being a Native american is a kind of fashion?.

In recent years I have known about a lot of white fellows in USA that claim to have a native american heritage. Maybe a lot of them do have it but now a days it seems that having indian roots is fashonable among the whities.

Such a case is Carl´s: I know this white guy that claim he has native american heritage, but when you look at him, he resembles more Swedish... I can´t not find a trace of native in him...he is as white as milk... not to talk about his phenotype. And even more, sudenly a bunch of "Pocahontas´ descendants" have just showed up among the white communty.

I don´t know, but to claim being native american seems to make white people more interesting at each others eyes. What do you think about it?.

`well, s--- happenes.. you look swedish but got none among your ancestors. I cannot speak for Carl, I can just tell you about my ancestors. My grandfather motherside has been sibirian (mongole). His hair was black, his eyes have been, his skin tanned. He had high cheekbones and has always been looking like a mongole. He was married to a dark tanned, dark eyed and black haired woman, my grandmother. All their children looked like mongoles, except my mother. She has blue eyes and light blond hair but this really high cheek bones. My father is dark type, too. My brother is looking absolutely swedish, I got this typical mongole figure: short legs, long back...lol
all I want to say is:you might have native ancestors but it does not show up. Or they had swedish postmen all over the world...that might be possible too. I am that I am..a native german... but you might be right, lots of people tell a lot of bulls*** about their ancestors and the reasons might just be, that they do not feel comfortable in their skin.

Honestly Nativewarrior4v those who feel they have to invent Native ancestry for the sake of appearing cool to their friends or other people are completely dilluded and or must lead such boring lives. it seems to me that the Native American people are either put on a pedastol, or demonised. More often than not these days it seems to be the former. Though there are still those who choose to see and treat the Native American people according to the stereotypes. Why the exploitatiobuse continues I don't know. I guess there is something they think would be better in their lives if people invent that or exploit a people and their culture. Still there are those who are white as snow and yet somewhere in their ancestry there is one or two Native Americans. They should not be judged or treated wrongly because they do not have the "Blood Quantom" necessary to look Native. Me I was born white,(some German, but there are other things) but have been asked if I was Native or of Native descent by people I met on this site in the past. Most of them were themselves Native. Perhaps those people saw my heart first. Anyway my family does have dark hair but are also fair skinned. I am the only one who has a different coloring to the skin and it has been commented on in passing. I am not adopted either. THe thing is I cannot say in all honesty whether or not there are Natives in the family but then the geneology has holes and people who seem to randomly show up but with no information about them. Anyway on the same note there are people who though white or another race posess a Native spirit and are nothing but genuine in wanting to explore and honor who they are inside. They too should not be judged as those who are true in their hearts and spirits will prove themselves to be so. All the wannabes out there will likewise prove themselves to be nothing but that. As they will lack something those with true hearts do not. Respect and a desire to learn/understand among other things. THose whose hearts and spirits are not true will likely wave things off, dismiss things, and in general will show lack of respect in some form. If those things are hidden something about them will not seem right. Likewise those whose hearts and spirits are true will do the complete opposite of those people. So too will something be felt from them. THe wannabes simply wish to play Indian and or try to exploit or gain from them. THose who genuinly posses a Native spirit would never think of doing such a disgusting and dishonorable thing. Therefore they should not be judged, in----ed, treated badly, or veiwed as trying being something they're not/trying to escape because of how Creator made them. There may very well be a reason Creator put a Native spirit in a nonNative body. We are who we are, and were made the way were were for a reason. We should not villify, judge or look down on each other because of that.

`I am the American Mutt..most all of us have a bunch of this, that and the other all blended in. For example, I actually have on my fathers side Spanish family. They are still in Castile Spain to this day and own land there. They are black haired, short, stocky and blue or green eyes..look at me..do you see black hair..no..but none the less it is there. Does it mean anything..well it really doesn't at the end of the day I guess. It took all of them to make me. Now is it cool to claim things like heritage? Well there are those...many out there trying to find and define themselves so they 'try on' what seems to be unique or interesting to see if it fits.

Well, if they have blue or geen eyes... sure that in the past your father's familly had to endure several "visitors" coming from the outside. Spanish are ones of the blackest peoples of europe with black hairs and more than often black eyes too. Enough natural if we think that one of their bigest invasion has been done by the "Maures" (North Africans).
Spanish by alliance passed a few time in "Bretagne" to help the Celt to fight against the "Normands" (English) and that's where my own father took his so black hairs and brown eyes :lol:

Does it really matter? I mean, if we all walked into a room at night, and someone turned out the lights, would we be able to tell who is what nationality? NO. So to evryone who reads this: Just be yourself, don't worry about where your from , only worry about where your at. I don't fit in any group, you think I care. I'm happy where I'm at. So many people worry about who they are and never stop to realize that they are who they are.

Actually Castilian Spaniards are dark skin and haired, but normally will have light eyes. Think more of a Mediterranean type of person. Too, there are Hispanics that are naturally blond haired and blue eyed. Some African Americans are lighter skinned than I am..and no they aren't mixed at all. We get used to a set way we think a race of people 'should' look and want to think that there must be something else in their blood if they do not look as we think they should. this isn't always so.

Very true. At the end of the day it doesn't matter about the outside so much as it does the inside. I think those who do stuff like that be it being Native or whatever are looking to connect or are looking for who they are and something or someone to identify with. Who knows..they may actually be telling you the truth.
