Our family come from Quechua Aymara native, our culture once have created the ancient civilization called “THE INCAN EMPIREâ€? My family have a strong cultural heritage and vibrant traditions. We are trying to organize a social community activism which could be a close knit communities will be organized around the traditional Ayllu structure, where power and authority rotate amongst members on a yearly basis. Household objects, crafts, and clothing will make in the traditional way. Spiritual leaders, traditional healers, employing a wide variety of medically important plants are deeply respected and ceremonies such as wa' xtha and the Aymara new year are vigorously celebrated.
However today this culture is threatened by poverty, political marginalization, and the destruction of the fragile resource base from which these agriculturalists derive their living. Here, high on the high lands, Quechua and Aymara men and women struggle to cultivate potato, corn, alfalfa, several bean varieties and wheat using traditional techniques on an average of less than three hectares of land per family. The climate is harsh, relatively cold, and dry, subject to frequent frosts, intense hail storms, and severe droughts.
The people we trying to work are extremely poor. Ninety percent of the population subsists on less than 50 cents a day, residing in adobe houses with dirt floors, cooking over live fire, lacking access to basic services. Educational opportunities are limited and of poor quality; on average children must walk 2.5 hours to reach the nearest school. Though many individuals in our communities are trilingual, the Spanish literacy rate is below 60%.
Although they are poor, the communities are in need of work. Rather, they are the owners of a trove of unique cultural knowledge, proud traditions, and a world view that both binds them together and connects them with the natural world. These are the most important characteristics of our future community and we are seeking community partners. We have tried and dreamed for long time to help my people but without resources we couldnt do it. My family comes from two countries Peru – Bolivia and two ethnic cultures. We hope that we can find solidarity from our native brothers and sisters and also from good neighboring community international. We have created our web page maybe helpful to connect and build a bridge.

Anyone interested may want to look into the link below, they (Runasimipi Qespiqa Software) are trying to create software to distribute for free to "internet cafés", schools an other beneficial locations in the Andean region, in both Quechua or (Kechwa) and Ayamara, to keep the language going and also so the people will not have wade through Spanish as some speak very little or those who are literate can read for those who cannot.
Another problem is that often faith based groups will donate computers for schools and usage for the general population and before they can get to what program they wish to use, the user is subjected to propaganda of the donating group,that goes against the grain of preserving a traditional cultural heritage.
This non profit group is looking for individuals to help with translations
for new technical words ie..like a Quechua word for computer screen, help with burning Cds and their distribution,translation programs, dictionaries, working toward a spelling unification, among so many other tasks on their long list. It seems like they are headed in the right direction ,but need help and have a long way to go to completion.

`I can't burn c.d's personally right yet on this olkd puter..gotta get a new one. Don't know anyone going to the Andes either..don't they have a way to mail them there? I mean, Once I got a new puter..which hopefully won't be too long I could burn some and send them if there is a place to send them to..or maybe email? Is that possible?

`I am sorry to not get back to you sooner, but use the power of networking, my Best friend goes to Peru once a year I know he would leave them in places that would do well for the time and $$ spent on burning them and I bet there are your friends who have friends who are going to the Andes and other parts of South America where Quechua is spoken, Perhaps the organization who is working on the software can distribute the burned CD's, are there clubs in your area that could help that would respect concept of what is being done. I would get in touch with the group that is in the link and see what they say. I am hoping that new technology used in burning will be compatable with the sometimes antiquated equipment still in use.
