What I have read since my last post is amazing, we all have personal issues that are like raw exposed nerves, even years later the pain feels as if it were yesterday.
But if we don't put ourselves in the other persons "shoes/Moccasins" and look at his/her side of the experience with an open mind and compassion, how will we ever learn from life and those around us? Many times we just react instead of setting aside our own pain to look at another persons experience with empathy and too often we turn it around and make it about ourselves instead of helping the other heal by doing something as simple as listening.
I think we are all on the right path.

`we all wander in the deep canyons of grief & anger. yes we can put the anger away but the grief follows when you do & have seen things that you are not suppose to do or see. you guys are all good people & hugger of trees i do respect what you have to say. i know it shouldn't have come to this but i was not bringing up the past or hate for the bilagaana, i was only sharing what i experienced with a man that i had full respect for. for him, he did not trust the system which he felt was run by the bilagaana & therefore he was sharing his opinion of how he felt & had nothing to do with me but he was wise & that is what i respected about him. the system failed him & so he more or less just gave up. we both felt the grief for our part in taking lives & the friends we lost. this was my grief that i carried & many times i wished that it was me that should have died. i thought a lot about suicide but the fear of not being able to be with my ancestors kept me from doing such an asinine thing. it has taken me many years to overcome this demon that was in the core of my bones. i do not dwell on the past, i only wish to share because where i come from it has not changed, we are still fighting to exist in this land which is supposed to be freedom. i do hope you all go to the web sites i put on this forum. i think it will open your eyes as to what we are really dealing with.

`Suicide will also prevent you from helping others through your experiences, as well as for the reasons you stated. Grief is a huge hole that can take a lifetime to fill and anger is a human response ,that can or cannot be useful depending on how it is used.
More Forums need to deal with real issues popular or not.

`What people do with thier pain tells me a lot about thier character.
Do they use it as an excuse to harm others?
Or do they gain compassion?..an empathy for those suffering around them.

`I think it depends on the persons intentions as to what they desire to receive through sharing their experiences. If they want compassion and empathy through manipulating the situation, then nothing positive will be gained for either party.Compassion should be freely given with no expectations in return and empathy is another way of understanding another point of view through similar experiences. You can either be a victim of Pain and suffering or use it in a constructive way.

`Hi Nightchant !
Don't want to repeat myself but I keep to find what you have to say as something extremly interesting because it's one expression of reality, out of all interpretation. There is no judgment to do on a testimony, that's why, in spite of my "white" state I have not been hurted by the story you have shared with us.
I'm sader of the reasons which leads Mr Ambrose to tell such things than by the words he used. It's maybe easier for me since I'm not a white American ?
No matter, I keep to think that your have countless of interesting thing to tell but I also keep thinking that it's not the better place to begin such conversating.
Hope you to be in peace...

`Nightchant you need not apologize as I carry no hard feelings. But for you to publicly apologize shows the great character you possess.
This is sometimes the hardest thing to do, most let their pride get in the way.
I accept your apology and hope you accept mine. I offer my hand in friendship and wish you peace, love, and harmony!!! Wah

`(Not cool. I just tried to make a comment, and I definetly pressed the wrong button. Getting late for me. Ha ha!)
As I said, before my comment was destroyed by the wrong button.
I read through the last three pages on this topic. I have found this to be an interesting one indeed. The fact that so many come together on this web site to share views and opinions is great for someone like me. I came here to learn more, and this to me is a great success. You all seem to be very wonderful people, with great minds. I am looking forward to absorbing much information, and understandings about the many different cultures, views, and opinions you all have to offer. So, it looks like I have come to the right place for trying to gain understanding.

`This was a good example of everything to do wrong in communication between people (except for thr gracious apologies/acceptance between Huggeroftrees and Nightchant).
There are lots of lovely things written here, and conversations though in the forum.

`I've seen. This is a good place, filled with people with great intentions. People who want to be heard. This topic struck my interest. You know, I knew that I even I did not know much about Native Americans and their hardships. As I keep reading more, and more, and more of what people have written on these forums. I do feel a sadness towards history, and how cruel people can be.
You all are great people. To be able to apologize, and move on is just awesome.
