It is not only the cleavage but the "mindless"things that are written in the mini message boxes , mainly by others of my gender.
It also appears that a man will say he wants in his future partner an intelligent woman who enjoys similar interests in activities or hobbies when it is anything less than that.
For example, the profile where the man is holding a huge salmon( Mr.F this is not about you) stating he would like his partner to share the interest of fishing, when all he really wants is someone who will keep the other wives/girlfriends company in the gossip circle so his buddies can go fishing with out complaints from their women.
I have gotten the impression that a womans intellect can be intimidating to the male gender in spite of what is said in their profile.
I also feel the bar has been lowered by cleavage and cutesy, needy, girl talk in the mini messages and their profiles and by antiquated opinions by both men and women.
Women complain about not being taken seriously but then behave in a way that will not garner respect from either gender. Until attitudes are changed there will continue to be a glass ceiling here in the online dating world, too.

`Hi Blackfootedgirl (woman)..I like to think I have a unique understanding of the (girl) who started this "thread" (ha!)..It was origionally posted out of frustration for how ridiculous the reasoning is for some of this here (putting out ---- and cloaking it in "spirituality") as well as how little women think of themselves and what they need to do to get a man (soul-mate..ha). About the girly talk..I hear what you are saying, but this can get disheartening here, you know? And in my own life (can't speak for others) I have a lot of responsibility..and my job is pretty intense and time consuming and full of petty bickering. So sometimes to lighten things up I welcome chatter and "girl-talk". I am very easy going about all of that. To be blunt...some (few-thankfully) people here can be cruel (I encountered that very recently--and it threw me for a loop for a couple of days) and what helped was some humor and the chatter of others was wonderful...healing.I was not allowed through the distraction to dwell long. As far as the men go...I can only speak for my experience here and some of what I have heard some of my male friends have dealt with)...there is a definate "fast-food" mentality here. I got on-line and placed my "order" for the fantasy woman (or man, I guess) and I will sit back and wait for my order to be filled. Also, there's the...this person is great..but maybe it can get even better! See??? Sad. We have stopped being people..we are what pops up on the screen and what is going on in the netherworld of someones head...then disappointment when we are..."only" human. So I just enjoy my friends. You're a lovely woman and I am glad you are here! And remember..this is only my opinion just based on observation and some experience. Not the totality of my experience though.

`I should have clarified the it more, I am not talking about the normal type girl talk between women, like lets say ie.... in the ladies bathroom or the friendly banter between women in the forums ,as that is a horse of a different color or TV show so to speak.
It is the mindless parroting of the same desperate "notice me,notice me" substance lacking statements in the mini boxes toward others of the opposite sex, that I find embarrassing to read.

`OH!! Now I know what you're talking about!...I have seen desparate messages too! They need to get some friends. Something....I don't think A man will do..he would fall into an abyss!!ha!**of emotional neediness that is. If you're talking about the same ones I have seen. And a lot are assembly-line, like. Maybe good for one who is "ordering" the "perfect" soul-mate. huh?
