Hugger, you really don't know what youv'e missed not having had a cow for a friend. I lived in a beautiful secluded valley in the country for ten years, (15 minuted drive from where I live now) and had several cows as pets/companions, most were or orphans, and three others ran away from their homes up on the ridge (one brought his goat buddy with him). They must have known we wouldn't eat them.
We even got the female cows desexed so that they didn't get pregnant (I'm a vego, and even if I wasn't, it would be like eating your pet dog to me!) I think cows have the sweetest smell of all, even nicer than horses. They are very sensitive and sociable, and the best parents too. They love being hugged and brushed and just hangin out, I would sit with them under a big shady tree, in this beautiful valley in front of the house ... some of my fondest memories ... so peaceful, just heavenly. Sometimes the geese would sit with us too, or just play in the creek close by. At Christmas I put Santa hats on them and took photos (I'll post some at Christmas) Hansy the Alpine goat was really smart, and the best playmate ever, I would play chasey and hide and seek with him, I'd run and scream when he caught up to me, cause he'd pretend he was going to headbut me but never did. As for cow pats (manure) Chumani, I didn't find they smelt bad at all. When they dry out you can use them like frisbies, they fly through the air really well. Mind you this was in a big natural grassy area, unlike how so many are kept in putrid feedlots of factory farms (hell on earth for any living thing, and I won't go there) I really do miss not living there ... one day I'll get to live in the country again.

`I don't eat beef or pork..the town I work in is a "packing house" town (formerly known as slaughter houses)..after enduring the smell there (you can imagine so I wont explain) I haven't been able to eat the stuff. I lived in cities growing up, up until just over a year ago, up and down the west coast (primarily Pacific Northwest) so this is a huge change, as you can imagine. But I needed to deal wth unresolved stuff with my family and some of the history there..so I came here while these people are still alive to do that. So here I am!

So Hugger three pages later!!... look at what your sitting on the porch drinking coffee comment has lead to ... I think someone doped my morning strawberry, banana smoothie with a serious pill!! .. Oh well I've had my thinking out loud therapy session for the week (if your lucky!)
Get up sleepy head ... it's groundhog day, and you need to have your cup of coffee on the porch, you're not going to talk about the Fall again are you?!!! cause then I'll have to ask if that is the same as Autumn, and then this will turn into six pages... AARRHH!!! Let me outa here!!!

`GOOD MORNING OR EVENING??? I have been up since 7 am. had my cup of coffee on the porch with my private back yard zoo.Let see I have to feed the cats, the squirrels, and birds every morning..Then it's back into the house to let Chew monster out of his cage so he can terrorize my house cat, while that's going on it gives me time to do a few chores and check my mail..
Packing plant I would not like to live by.. St. Louis used to have a large packing plant, but it is gone now been gone for years. I have always lived in the cities, born in San Francisco lived in Oregon for a while but Missouri I have been here the longest.
