Apparently since I'm from South Africa, I've earned the ire of 2 people (so far) here: 1 of them who I'm not sure is even native american. I'm not here to steal anyone or dilute anyone's bloodlines. The racism coming off the 2 remarks was quite startling. There is nothing wrong with being african!
I don't have native african blood in me but if I did, why would that bother a few of you when i clearly say why I'm here ? Not everyone on this site has native american blood, but does that warrant using terms like n_gger ?

Hi,
Well, I think that's terrible. Mean comments are generally a reflection of those who make the comments, and may have come from people who were very close-minded and/or perhaps a bit too sheltered.
The more I look around, the more I see the similarities of peoples -- which by no means diminishes the beauty of any peoples' beliefs, traditions or bloodline.
I think one of the beauties of Native American culture is that they've been in touch with their traditions for so long. Many of us have lost touch with the people we've descended from and their traditions.
We non-Native Americans are here (I think) because we feel this affinity for the beauty of those traditions that embrace nature and community, something we ourselves feel.
I would ask that people who feel compelled to leave such mean-spirited messages for others to spend some time learning to be tolerant of others (which is the spirit of this country and, I believe, this site), and to (as my mom would say) "not say anything if you don't have anything nice to say."

`Thanks Em, but perhaps (maybe) some feel that after everything that has been taken away/stolen, why should more people encroach ? Not that I'm excusing behavior like that because that was a ghastly thing to say and if said few did feel anger Btw Nice mom you have there :)

`Hello to all..
Em your words/comments are so true!
I am new here and hope to discover friends and kind hearts reaching beyond
nationality/ethnicity or bloodlines/lineage.
Native cultures hold Wisdom and Beauty too often forgotten or ever-looked in
our fast-paced spiritually devalued society. I honor the spirit of Native Peoples
and humbly hope I will learn more though sharing with this culture.
We should try to openly embrace those we can, and the others... bless them
and respect their 'differentness'.
