Another Memorial Day is here again, and it was 14 years ago when I had to fly out to California and bring my dad home.He served in WW 2 and the Korean War, he was so proud to be an American and he taught me to love this country of ours, it may not be perfect, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!
He came from a different era, so he never talked about the war or the horrors he saw .I do think of him often, and I do go to Jefferson Barracks to put flowers on his grave. He is always in my heart, so he never dies...
The boy scouts will be out putting a flag on every single grave at Jefferson Barracks. At least once a year our veterans are not forgotten.
When you see a veteran or an enlisted person it only takes a minute to thank them for risking their lives to keep our country safe.
Just want to thank all the veterans and the people in the service now, I appreciate all you've done and still do..

All is said inside these few sentences. My parents made me proud to be a member of my Nation but well farer of the historical or political concerns. I remember my grand father who has been prisonner during three years and my father who, with the folly of being only 17 took many risks with his life in joining the "Resistance" but any of both of them never talked about these times. It's rare enough that the peoples having being actors in such terrible events talk about themselves probably because horror is not a matter of pride. Only those haven't never endure these terrible experiences talk and complain....

I don't know if it's just a vision given by American movies but from here it seems that Americans can't live without to use the military salute ??? Our personal bond with the armies are a little different because the most recent experience happened on our own land but I mostly honor the simple peoples having being submit to war's consequence like to become a military and maybe have to do un-human things to survive.
I just know that behind the tatto of a nacked woman printed on my grand father skin was more than just the fashion for tatto nowadays
