One day as I was checking my mail, I heard a voice say"Hey old man." I walked on, again I heard "Hey old man." I search for the voice. It came from the trash bin. I took a look and saw something white. "It is I, FAN, it said." He lay among the refuse of life. "Take me home, please" he cried. He was all bent and scratched. I asked him "How did you come to this, FAN?' He replied,"It was in the days of the short shadows that I was taken home. I had the position of honor in my new home. I stood proud and served my masters, cooling them in the heat of day. And at night I hummed the children to sleep. In the time of the long shadows, as I was being put away, I was dropped and lost my face. Then came the time again, then I saw the "one." He stood tall and wore a cloak of white adorned with stars. Now, I am here. Take me home and I will cool you throughout the days and nights. I will hum you to sleep." I could not deny him his request. His pleas toughed my heart for I too know what it is to be abandoned. I cleaned him up, I put him in the place of honor and he kept his promise. And now we sit in my room, he facing West and I facing East and we are content. I have spoken!

`Thank you, Riverotter for telling this beautiful story. I have thought about it over the last couple of days off and on since I read it.

`Osiyo Riverotter, your wondeful story has found another story teller, as some years back, I heard that voice from an old small table, all dirty and paint was no longer, next to our community trash bin. We agreed of giving each other a chance and I felt honored that Table accepted my invitation, so it was not to his liking when I scrubbed all filth off. Table even kept on chocking when I painted with red earth colour and gave Table a finaly touch of gold around the edges and a sweet design at the corners, but when Table was finaly dry and looked at its new beauty with ancient books and a wooden incense rose on...truth speaking...don t know who felt deeper pride. So since than, evertime I walk into my living room, first thing Table greets me from his place next to my sofa.
May all your days be blessed.
