So, in the interests section of this website, you are asked if you basically have children or not. One of the options is "Yes, single parent home". I have a problem with that being, other than "Yes, grown and out of the house" the only option on this site.
Number one, there are men on this site, I assume, who have children, but their children do not live with them. More than likely, these men make no efforts to get visitation, can't get visitation, don't try to support their children. The mothers are raising them alone. It's tough work. I for one, raise my daughter alone and refuse to let her father see her. He has no visitation rights at all right now. He was abusive to me and I don't think it would be in her best interest to be with someone who basically forced pregnancy upon me and kept me in fear almost all through out my pregnancy. Anyway, back to my rant. It's not fair to the hard working mothers for the father of their children to select "Yes, single parent home". It's misleading and would lead others to assume that he is a single father, raising the children on his own when he in fact, is not.
There should be another option. "Yes, have child(ren)." Nothing more, nothing less. Obviously, a man isn't going to deny having a child on this web site because some women are suckers for single dads, but he shouldn't be allowed to insinuate that he's raising them alone. And lets be real people, single dads who raise their children are rare. The reality of most situations is, is that they leave all the burdens, hard work, and everything else that comes along with raising children to the mothers, while the men, basically pop in and out of their children's lives whenever it's convenient for them.

`To the makers of this website, thank you very much for adding the other option. If there is one thing I find more annoying about this issue, it's when people take credit for the hard work of others and manipulate the truth to gain interest from others. I am happily raising my daughter alone. Yes, these men may have children, but in most cases, they're not the ones raising them. But enough of that, I just wanted to say thanks.

Just a quick note about this issue.
We did add a new option in the 'Have Kids' area, and the new option is 'Yes'.
We absolutely do not agree the comments in this thread that imply that 'most men don't try to get visitation' or that 'most men can't get visitation' or that 'most men don't support their children'.
We find those comments to be highly offensive.
But, we did recognize that our prior 'Have Kids' options boxed people in too much, and a simple option of 'Yes' would/should work better for many people (male and female).
We are commenting because we thought we should try and balance things out a little for the men out there who read this thread...so that they do not think that the new option was added due to an agreement with the sentiment expressed above.
There are plenty of great fathers who are just as hurt by the way the courts deal with parental custody issues, as there are great mothers who end up having to shoulder the burden of 'single parenthood'.
Normally we do not interject our opinions in the forum like this, but we did not want our actions to be misinterpreted.
Thanks,
.

`with 1 in 3 children living without their fathers, I do not see how my opinion about men not being there for their children can be offensive. I do recognize that single fathers who raise their children do exist. But it's rare. I did not go on to rant about something without offering the other side of the debate. Thanks for your feed back.
